PROTECTION AGAINST ROOT ROT AND AGAINST (BLACK LEG)

PROTECTION AGAINST ROOT ROT AND (BLACK LEG)
The fungi Rhizoctonia, Pythium and Phytophthora can cause Root Rot plant disease. Another name for this disease is Black Leg. In case of an infection, the fungi attack the roots of the plant, which turn black and begin to rot. Overwatering the plants and poor soil ventilation are main reasons for this disease to occur. Additionally, the plant can become infected if the soil was not sterilized before planting the plant, as well as the disease can also be transmitted through the pots where the infected plant came from.
Symptoms
The pathogen affects the roots, tillering nodes and the base of the stems. Infected parts of plants turn brown and sometimes form dry rot. In humid conditions, mycelium and fungus sporulation are formed on plants. This occurs in the form of plaque of various shades of white or pink. The leaves turn yellow and fall. This disease is the reason for the thinning of seedlings, a reduction in the general and productive tillering, and the formation of an underdeveloped ear with a shriveled grain.
Factors contributing to the development of the disease
- Dry and warm weather with insufficient or unstable soil moisture level.
- Excessive content of nitrate nitrogen in the soil.
- Damage caused by nematodes and insects.
Protective measures
- Advanced and effective seed treatment pre-plantation
- Treatment of crops with protective substances such as fungicides and fertilizers: PREVЕCUR ENERGY, DYNASTY, RIZORLID
- Usage of disease resistant seeds.
- Crop rotation.
- In order to strengthen and branch the root system fertilization with “RIZORLID”
- “ DYNASTY” - effective fungicide against a complex of soil diseases
- Recommended depending on vegetation period “PREVECUR ENERGY”
